Senior User Interface Designer - Boston

Technology environment is Java, JSP, Velocity, Oracle, Linux hosted web application. They do not use J2EE.

The Senior User Interface Designer will apply generally accepted usability principles and practices of user-centered design to create interactive web applications that provide enhanced and compelling user experiences.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Marketing, Product Development, and Client Services teams to collect and define requirements. He/she will create HTML wireframe prototypes, flow maps and design documents that detail the user interactions. This person will also be expected to participate in collaborative user design sessions during the design process and to act as an advocate for the user throughout the design/development cycle.

This position reports to the Manager of Product Design, in the Product Development organization.

Deliverables

·         Work cross-organizationally to document requirements and ensure customer and market needs are met.

·         Participate in user testing and focus groups and ensure all work meets a high usability standard.

·         Develop conceptual models, wire frames, prototypes, and detailed UI design specifications for web-based applications based on product and client requirements.

·         Develop competitive analysis across our product lines.

·         Write instructional copy, help copy and error messaging.

Qualifications

·         5+ years user interface design experience - able to lead projects from conception through implementation.

·         Demonstrated ability to develop web-based user interfaces, create prototypes, produce detailed specifications, and deliver on requirements.

·         Ability to develop new approaches to design problems and meet aggressive deadlines.

·         Experience working in a collaborative development environment.

·         Understanding of usability best practices and experience participating in user testing is desired.

·         Meticulous attention to detail.

·         Expert usage of HTML and Visio.

·         Project management experience is a plus.
