We are an early-stage, Boston-based startup that is funded by prominent angel investors who backed Google, PayPal, AskJeeves, etc. The company is solving some very fundamental problems in the online rich media space (think of adsense, but for video). The online video market is growing rapidly. The company is founded by MIT alums who have had substantial operating experience in leading technology companies.

I am seeking:

1) Architect/Lead Developer - someone who is a do-everything guru (the Director is the hands-on Director/Architect who needs a 'right hand man')

2) a Flash guru

3) a core technology algorithms guru

The environment looks somewhat like this:

Ad viewing and logging infrastructure for online video using the Apache Spring framework for the web front-end and Hibernate for data access and persistence. There is a resource manager to distribute downloaded content among server farm machines for offline analysis using Apache XML-RPC for communication between the client nodes and standard UNIX NFS to move files. There are other utilities built with Apache Ant to help with application deployment to server nodes and other development/deployment/server maintenance tasks. Linux/Apache Tomcat application server cluster is used for video processing, account management and user click counting.

 Responsibilities:
Develop a highly scalable Java-based enterprise web system. Contribute directly to all phases of development. Collaborate closely with other members of the engineering team. Work along side of experimental AI research. This is a unique and well-funded start-up opportunity.

 Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in computer science

• 5+ years of Java software engineering experience

• J2EE technologies

• Working knowledge of a RDBM (MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle or alike)

• Working knowledge of basic web technologies HTML, JavaScript, XML

• Excitement to build something new and work aggressively to meet new goals

• Excellent communication skills

Pluses:

• Experience building scalable Java-based web applications

• Understanding of basic Internet protocols as well as related tools and technologies (e.g. web servers, web browsers)

• Basic knowledge of network architectures and network programming (e.g. RPC)

• Advanced engineering or computer science degree

• Experience working w/ streaming content in Windows Media, Real Media, QuickTime and/or Flash

• Familiarity building interactive web elements in Ajax and/or Flash
